چکیده

Background: Travel reliability is a critical dimension in the user experience of public transportation services. Next only to travel time, commuters in the Chicago metropolitan area identified reliability as the second most important factor that affects their mode and route choice through a survey conducted by Northwestern and the CTA in a previous CCITT study (Nie, Wu, Zissman, Lee & Haynes 2010). Almost half of the commuters surveyed described their transit service as “unreliable.” Furthermore, transit systems are affected by uncertainties of various sorts, ranging from extreme weather conditions and serious traffic accidents to unforeseeable mechanical failures and human errors. While these uncertainties could adversely disrupt transit services, the overall impacts are rarely documented and understood in existing systems. As a result, neither transit operators nor transit users are able to make proactive decisions to ensure travel reliability. Ignoring the impacts of uncertainties often results in misallocation of limited resources in the transit system. From the user point of view, the lack of reliability either encourages overly conservative riskaverse behavior or leads to uncomfortable, sometimes disastrous, disruptions.

Multi-objective routing and scheduling for relief distribution with split delivery in post-disaster response

Following the occurrence of unexpected events and natural disasters, a highly important relief operation is the transferring of relief commodities from the distribution centers (CDs) to shelters. In this paper, a three-level network consisting of depot of vehicles, distribution centers and shelters has been considered for routing and scheduling of relief vehicles through introducing a multi-obj...

A Robust Programming Approach to Bi-objective Optimization Model in the Disaster Relief Logistics Response Phase

Accidents and natural disasters and crises coming out of them indicate the importance of an integrated planning to reduce their effected. Therefore, disaster relief logistics is one of the main activities in disaster management. In this paper, we study the response phase of the disaster management cycle and a bi-objective model has been developed for relief chain logistic in uncertainty conditi...

A Robust Optimization Methodology for Multi-objective Location-transportation Problem in Disaster Response Phase under Uncertainty

This paper presents a multi-objective model for location-transportation problem under uncertainty that has been developed to respond to crisis. In the proposed model, humanitarian aid distribution centers (HADC), the number and location of them, the amount of relief goods stored in distribution centers, the amount of relief goods sent to the disaster zone, the number of injured people transferr...

Optimization-based planning to assess the level of disaster in the city

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: After having struck in a major natural disaster like an earthquake, different organizations run about to decrease losses. The lack of accurate demand information is a common problem that all emergency response organizations have to encounter such a crisis. Evaluation of the City disaster level is a mean to feed this informati...

A fuzzy multi-objective model for logistic planning in disaster relief operations

Disasters can cause many casualties and considerable destruction mainly because of ineffective preventive measures, incomplete preparedness, and weak relief logistics systems. After catastrophic events happen, quick and effective response is of great importance, so as to having an efficient logistic plan for distributing needed relief commodities efficiently and fairly among affected people. In...

Optimal Blood Transportation in Disaster Relief Considering Facility Disruption and Route Reliability under Uncertainty

The blood supply chain as a part of healthcare systems play a substantial role in health improvement within societies, and blood supply for daily needs and especially in disasters is the challenges requiring more attention. This paper presents a fuzzy-stochastic mixed integer linear programming model to design blood supply chain network for disaster relief. To deal with the uncertainty in model...
